I took 1:1 lessons with Simon for 12-weeks. When I started I had never picked up a deck or used DJ software before, I knew nothing about beat matching or music selection either. I was a 100% newbie and simply wanted to carve out time in my life to learn a new skill. I’ve always loved electronic music and love to dance. Simon taught me all of the fundamentals of DJ’ing, helped me choose equipment to practice on at home, including speakers, and even shared some great DJ books & films with me that really dive into the culture & craft. It was the 360 degree immersive experience I was looking for to really get into it and properly learn. Simon always met me where I was at in terms of interests and energy levels. We explored a multitude of genres and he dissected each one so I could really hear the best way to mix the tracks. His passion and experience really comes through in his teaching style and he doesn’t cut any corners. I learned so much and can confidently put together and mix my own set. Most of all, Simon is a genuinely good person and and awesome DJ. I’d 200% recommend his classes. I left with a big smile on my face after every single one.
